About
BanjoCat
BanjoCat Creative has had many lives since its inception. At first, it was meant to be a website business to build small business websites. I composed a catchy tune to kick start our venture and we were proud of the work we had done. But, we had entered that market space too late. People don’t care much for unique website experiences when they can use a boilerplate template to get the job done themselves with little investment and time.
We then decided to change our lives and take a blind leap into the unknown sphere of, well, homelessness. BanjoCat’s second incarnation became a short lived travel type blog that would allow us to exercise our love of writing and exploration. That was the idea. We sold the house and set everything in motion. Our trailer, Serenity, would be our temporary home as we sought renewal, adventure, and a new place to call home. I say short lived because the timing could not have been worse (2020) and we immediately ground to a halt.
Currently, my life is not my own. I am taking care of my ailing mother. This is not the sort of adventure I had in mind. There is the life we want to create and there is the life that necessity drops at our feet. We must choose. When you do the right thing it is often painful. The learning is in the struggle.
A cat has nine lives, as they say, and we are now in our third incarnation. It truly feels that way… Have we failed? Were we fools? It isn’t over yet. Jamais Arriere!

In all my years I have come to learn that people are poetry in motion. Images of joy and sadness balance out in the timeline of years. These images speak to my heart to form a concordant string of words and frequency that become a song. No, there is no such thing as an unimportant life. Songwriting is not my profession but it is an essential part of my being and I find it very gratifying to write and create for myself and others. It is how I have come to share my love with those known and unknown to me.
I have a keen interest in Homeopathy, Herbal Medicine, Essential Oils, permaculture gardening, creating vibrant indoor/outdoor living spaces, building WordPress websites, re-purposing odds and ends, and hopefully, learning to be a better human.
Will I meet you on our (future) travels? Will you become a part of our story? I hope so.

A problem of identity. Isn’t this what we all strive for – our own identity?
Consider the Ship of Theseus philosophical question. It goes something like this. Theseus establishes the great city of Athens. The people so love him that they preserve his ship in port as a memorial. The ship, of course, is built of wood and, wood in water, rots. So they periodically replace rotting planks.
Here’s the philosophical question: Once you replace so many planks of the ship, is it truly the ship it once was? Here is the question Erin and I are now confronted with in this journey. Will we be the same people once we acclimate to our new lifestyle?
The answer as we see it? We surely hope not! This is a quest for change – deep inner change as well as day to day living change. I intend to pursue my passion for short story writing and sharing a few here on BanjoCat Creative. I will also be finishing a book I started over a year ago about my grandfather and his experience in the Great War serving in the 91st Infantry Division aka “Wild West Division”. Powder River, let ‘er buck!

They never asked me what I wanted to do. As it turns out I get extremely car sick. I could have told them that – if I could talk, of course. Luckily, I am easy going and am adapting fairly well to whatever situation they put me in. I haven’t seen fit to soil or destroy anything in the strange rolling box we live in now but they know… they know what an unhappy kitty can do.
I have them well trained and find that annoying them constantly while they try to work – pawing their concentrated faces, sitting on the keyboard, extending my claws on their arms with just enough pressure to make them squeak – will always be rewarded with treats. I like to think that somehow my contribution as the inspiration for their logo is the key to their success. † Rest in Peace June 4, 2022
