Let’s Make a Deal
Let’s make a deal! I don’t know about you but the process of buying and selling big ticket items is not a favorite pastime of mine. Despite this squeamishness we successfully sold our TaB travel trailer and it was pretty painless.
Selling high dollar items is always a bit tense. The buyer, understandably, can’t be sure about what they are going to purchase in the span of fifteen minutes. You can walk through it, ask questions, but can you be sure that what you see is what you get? Can you trust the seller? Can the seller trust the buyer? The struggle is real.
Selling the TaB
We listed the TaB on RVtrader.com two and a half weeks prior to the sale. Each posting cost $34.95 for a two week period. We had received a few inquires in the first two weeks but they didn’t go anywhere. We purchased another two weeks and finally got a serious buyer. “Tom” responded to the ad and he had a lot of good questions. We went back and forth until every one was comfortable with the product and the price.
He and his wife had a four hour drive to get here – quite a commitment – to examine the trailer and decide in real time if this was truly what they wanted. After owning a few trailers themselves they were well aware of the quality issues (read: cheap materials, poor build quality) of just about every trailer on the market. They found the Little Guy brand, researched it, and decided the TaB unit was what they wanted. And so the search began and they found our post.
When they got here it was oddly like seeing old friends. We did our best to provide as much information as we could (i.e., user manuals, TaB accessories) in addition to our personal experience using the trailer. Tom’s biggest obstacle, I think, besides maybe having to fork over the cash, was the trim color – orange. But his wife was okay with it and besides… it was her birthday.
He pulled the trigger and got a pristine, high quality trailer and made his wife happy in the process. We shook hands, exchanged paper, hitched the trailer to their tow vehicle and off they… Nope, there was a glitch in the hitch. It was riding too high so it was quickly swapped out with the appropriate hitch and they were off – and looking quite awesome. They sent a text to us when they got home and said the trip went great and they are very happy with the purchase. I love win-win scenarios.
The Next Step
Selling the TaB turned out to be a very good experience and well worth the cost of advertising. We know the new owners are going to enjoy this rig and the memories it will facilitate for their family in the years to come. Our driveway now stands empty. The path is now clear and we can continue on to the next step – getting our LG Max delivered! Once it arrives we begin making modifications to create a more comfortable, efficient, functional, living space for our future life on the road.

Sad to see it go, but she went to a wonderful new family!
